I am the top electronic friend of San Francisco's Primier Indie Night Club!
Oh Popscene, all those years of commuting to you on the bus and waiting patiently in the cold alley before rocking the night away....I never knew you loved me back!
And I know it's because you love ME not just my obsessive fangirl user picture. You love me truly!
My praise for the Chicago show. I had seen Moz twice before in Liverpool and Earls Court in 2004, but I had been up in the balcony both times--this time I was upfront, about three rows back...and his eyes, his eyes were such an deep sparkling blue. I didn't think eyes could be so blue. I had seen pictures, but film cannot capture that blue. There is a light in those eyes....
Amazing show. I agree that Moz was very talkative and I think he would have said more if the crowd had ever given him more time between the yelling and cheering. He seemed slightly embarrassed by that....
He had superb comic timing with his little witticisms about playing chicago again etc. Why has no one written much about how Moz is a comic genius in song and on stage?
He looked really good, very handsome, very healthy. When he smiles he is 22 again. I'll never forget being able to see him up close. "When Irish eyes are smiling...."
Here is my attempt at all the lyric changes.
Accetone changed to Anne Sexton and "Magnani you'll never be" changed to "Gertrude Stein you'll see" in YHKM.
"You'll try anything twice" changed to "You'll try anyone once" in LMKY.
"Something must have gone right" changed to "something must have gone wrong" in ITFWAW.
"U.S.A" changed to "George W. Bush" in Far off Places. (I was happy to hear this change, because clearly it isn't all of the U.S.A that bombs it is...well you know who.
He also repeated the "Haven't had a dream in a long time" verse of "Please, Please, Please..." That song was an emotional tidal wave. Almost all in the audience were crying or close to tears.
One of the best nights of my life. The Ringleader songs were even more amazing live than on the album and I will say Ringleader is a great album to my dieing day.
Ok,anyone who is going to the Chicago Morrissey show, here is my cell phone number so you can call me while I am in line. 510.508.9873.
I really want to meet everyone and I didn't swap info with everyone in time.
Seriosuly, if you are going I want to meet you. Call me. Let's not miss our chance. Plus ther is a good possibility I will be alone in line if you don't call me.
Tonight I saw Let's go to Prison directed by none other than my co-hero of comedy Bob Odenkirk. It was great, really funny, a very good satire--though I will admit I am biased.
I also finally broke down and bought the hard cover version the new Murkami short story collection. According to the back of the book, Daniel Handler aka Lemony Snicket agrees with me that Murakami is the "greatest living practitioner of fiction." How happy does that make me? Happier then it probably should.
Their names are Tanuki and Toru. Toru is the black and white one that kind of looks like Holstien Cow.
They are a little over a year, so a couple of the pictures are from when we had just gotten them and they were still little bumps. Most of the pictures we have feature them sleeping because they are hard to photograph when they are awake and causing trouble.
So I finally got around to listening to the Killers new single "When Yoy Were Young". 1)I had put it off because everyone who listened to it told me it was awful and 2) I actually did liked their first album quite a bit for an Amercian band ( I don't talk about this a lot apparenty liking the Killers was never cool except for a short time in England when I was there) and I wasn't really looking forward to being disapointed. The music itself is not bad at all but as I listened to the lyrics I thought this is strange, these lyrics don't sound like Brandon's style at all, but they do sound familiar....then I realized where I had heard lyrics like that before...Meatloaf! Brandon flowers is trying to be Meatloaf. Of all things to try and be?
Don't get me wrong, I actually do like some of Meatloaf's songs (hey they are passionate, earnest and not cliche which are my 3 top criteria for judging songs) but ONLY Meatloaf can be Meatloaf.
"He doesn't look a thing like Jesus!" C'mon Brandon, give us break.
